Glenview, Illinois - Liver and Kidney Transplant Care

Liver Transplant Care:

Our focus on community outreach benefits patients and their physicians by providing many of the pre-liver transplant services close to home and offering convenient accessibility that affords each of our patients an excellent opportunity for a successful liver transplant.

We are available to see the following types of patients at the satellite clinics:

  • Potential liver transplant candidates
Initial visit to determine the likelihood of being a transplant candidate. If the patient is identified as a candidate, the patient will require evaluation by the liver transplant team at Northwestern Memorial Hospital before being listed for a liver transplant.

  • Patients on the liver transplant waiting list
From the time a patient is listed until transplantation, patients may choose to have basic follow-up visits either at Northwestern or at the satellite clinic.

Kidney Transplant Care:

In response to the growing need for a full service pre-kidney transplant evaluation clinic in the west, southwest and near northwest suburbs of Chicago, we are pleased to offer the Northwestern Organ Transplant Clinic in Glenview, Illinois. The goal of this clinic is to provide convenient access to Northwestern's kidney transplant services for patients and referring physicians, thereby avoiding multiple trips into Chicago.

We offer all of the same kidney transplant evaluation services that patients and referring physicians are accustomed to receiving at Northwestern Memorial Hospital at the Northwestern Organ Transplant Clinic in Glenview - from patient education meeting to transplant evaluation. The multidisciplinary kidney transplant team consisting of a transplant nephrologist, surgeon, physician assistant, transplant nurse coordinator, social worker, dietitian and clinical coordinator, are available to see the following types of patients at the Glenview clinic:

  • Potential kidney transplant candidates
Patients (recipient and donor) may attend a transplant education meeting and clinic visit to determine candidacy for kidney transplant. The patients attend a group transplant education session and will have the option of staying to begin their evaluation with a detailed history and physical followed by a multi-disciplinary evaluation plan. Clinical coordinators will be on site to schedule any further diagnostic testing which can be done locally or at Northwestern Memorial's downtown campus. Information and findings from the evaluation process will be subsequently presented to the transplant selection committee at Northwestern.

  • Patients on the kidney transplant waiting list
Patients may choose to have basic interval re-evaluation visits either at Northwestern Memorial Hospital or at the Northwestern Organ Transplant Clinic in Glenview.
