Northwestern Memorial's Division of Geriatrics works closely with Northwestern University's Buehler Center on Aging to provide a multidisciplinary geriatric evaluation and treatment service. The service draws upon the expertise of geriatricians, clinical nurse specialists and clinical social workers to develop individualized treatment plans that address each patient's medical, functional and emotional needs and promote independence.
In addition, the Division of Geriatrics and the Stone Institute of Psychiatry provide older adult outpatient diagnostic and therapeutic services and inpatient psychiatric care. The hospital's Geriatric Health Ministry works with local clergy and congregation members to develop health counseling, screening and educational programs for seniors, as well as assessments of home-bound or isolated patients.
